Cody seems to be fitting in mostly fine. Belle and he get a long well. Cody is a bit protective of his food and water… we’re hoping to stifle that behavior while it’s mild. He was neutered yesterday too… so we hope that helps a bit.
We were worried, wondering if he feels at home….
We’re not worried anymore. Today, while walking Belle and Cody (they don’t like to go alone anymore), our neighbor walked out his front door to ask about Cody. As I was telling him the story, his youngest son opened the door, letting their dog Nico out. Nico obviously rushed out excited to see Belle and Cody.
Belle ran back a dozen paces and then squared up to investigate this new dog. I was worried about Cody, since we’ve been told he’s a bit aggressive towards male dogs. But today, he pulled himself out of his leash and inflatable pillow collar – and proceeded to run down the sidewalk towards home. He stopped when I yelled for him. But when Nico chased after Belle and I some more… it spooked Cody and he ran again. As I was calling Elaine for help I lost sight of him.
Turns out… Cody ran home. Elaine opened the door and he was there on the porch looking to be safe inside his new home. Belle and I tried to help corral Nico but he kept dodging us. Cody will definitely be wearing his harness during walks from now on.
